Motoactv by Motorola
Today I will be doing a product description on one of my favorite new Android gadgets coming out soon. It is the Motorola Motoactv. This is a fitness and music device. This Android infused device has a 600MHz processor and you can purchase one in 8gb or 16gb form. The Motoactv logs your running, walking, and cycling stats and has GPS to track excercise routes. Also it can track your heart rate with a special bluetooth headset (sold seperately for $149) that you can also listen to your music. Some nice features with this droidalicious device is you can answer incoming phone calls and receive texts. A downside is you won't be able to make phone calls or send texts, but that is a tradeoff as technology advances. You can transfer all your mp3's and also if you have itunes, you can sync the Motoactv to it. Another great feature is when you work out and sweat or are working outside in the rain, you don't have to worry as this is waterproof. The MSRP is $249 for the 8gb and $299 for the 16gb.

Droid app of the week
This week's droid app of the week is dropbox. This app is a file storage app which you can access from either a computer or mobile device . All you have to do is download it on your mobile device and pc then you're ready to go. Now you can access files anywhere. You can store photos, files, and videos. For example if you download photos on your pc, you can open them up without transferring them from pc to phone. It's kind of like cloud storage. The best part is now, if you have an HTC Android running UI Sense 3.5, you get 5gbs of free storage. This is one way to stretch your storage. Droidalicious!

listening to the wife
It's time I start to listen to my wife. She keeps suggesting I start doing graphic design because of all the work I do for her. I guess she is right and I'm officially announcing that if anybody needs graphic designing out there my services are available. I will charge by the amount of work I have to do, being mindful that this is a part time gig as I have a full time job. So, if you or someone you know needs some work done give me a shout out.
New stuff
Well, where do I begin? Lots of new tech is coming out. Droidalicious! With the Iphone 4s out people shouldn't forget about what the Android platform has up its sleeve. To start things off, there are new Android phones coming out that are the Samsung Galaxy II, Motorola Razor, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus as the cream of the crop.An honorable mention to HTC with its Droids, HTC Rezound and Titan, integrated with Beats Audio. The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is worth the look if you are in the market for a smaller tablet with the power of its big brother Galaxy Tab 10.1. Motorola, I believe has hit a homerun with its Motoactv ultimate fitness device. This thing is amazing folks. To top this all off Ice Cream Sandwich is coming. I will be doing product descriptions on these devices to better inform you soon.

Android Firewall
Android users rejoice for an Android firewall is here. It's called Whisper Monitor. You can get it at:
http://www.whispersys.com/whispermonitor.html
This firewall will allow you to control over where your data is going and what your apps are doing. What all this means is you can monitor outbound traffic from your Android device and help you prevent location tracking. You can also control each app you have that you use and record connection histories of each app. This allows you to see where it's connecting and how often it's connecting.

AT&T to purchase T mobile
Looks like big news is that AT&T is going to purchase T mobile for 39 billion dollars. Right now business will be the same for T mobile customers, at least for a little while. That being said AT&T released news that T mobile customers will need to get new phones in the future as they will be tweaking the 4G signal, pretty much getting rid of the 3G signal and they will have to go to AT&T's 3G to do so making all T mobile phones on 3G useless. We'll have to keep posted on these events.

Droid app of the Week
This week's Droid app of the week OS Tunein Radio by Radio Time. It is a very good radio app and works like the Radio Time app, but works better in that you can now see buffering rates and have better access to some stations. The original Radio Time has been buggy of late as the developers haven't gotten around to updating the original. So if you ate looking for a good radio streaming app this is now the better so as there are thousands of stations you can listen to. Even your local stations should be here. It's what I tune in and so should you.

HTC Thunderbolt
Here is a bit of a bummer, it looks like the HTC Thunderbolt will not be out yet. It was supposed to have already been released. The new release date is now March 4th. Hopefully this will be the end of the delay and get on the 4G bandwagon.

Motorola Xoom
The Motorola Xoom is officially here. You can purchase one on a 2 year contract at Verizon for $599.99 or straight purchase price of $799.99. An only wifi version will be out soon enough which hopefully means a day or two after the release. This is one bad ass of a device. It sports a 10.1 inch screen, 1GHz dual core processor, and 32GB's of internal storage. The front facing camera is 2MP's and the rear is 5MP's with dual LED flash. The Honeycomb OS is installed on the device. Now unfortunately there is no Flash player yet, but Adobe will soon be releasing its Flash player 10.2 in the coming weeks and the Xoom will be receiving it, possibly 2 weeks from now. Also this tablet is LTE 4g ready, but it too will have to wait, as the Xoom will get the update at the end of May. Now here is one of my favorite parts of this device is the fact that it features a video editor in Movie Studio. We Android lovers have been waiting for this for a while. I just wish the Android phones would get this app. You can do more than just clip videos. One feature of the Xoom is the 720 HD video recording which is nice and will be awesome to use now that a video editor is part of the package. The tablet also has a micro USB and HDMI port. All in all this is a beast of a machine. It's easy to say the tablet wars have begun and it's just another tough choice with the other tablets out there. As of right now this is number 1 in my book. This is just one of the many reasons to love the Android OS and makes me proud to see the expanding of Android to more than just phones. Gadgety goodness all the way.

Droid app of the week
This week's droid app of the week is Vidtrim. This is a video editor but a limited one. With this app you can clip videos for those long videos you record and want to post a short clip up. This is nice since we haven't had any type of video editor on Android. It's a start and soon enough with Honeycomb OS coming out it'll be on Android tablets then soon after Android phones. This is a well made app and the start of some beautiful editing.

New tech
Well its been awhile, but I'm back. Lots of stuff has been going on with all the carriers. Lots of new droids are being introduced, as well as the Verizon iPhone 4. Let's start with the 2 new Motorola droid phones, the Atrix and Droid bionic. Both of these have duo cores. At&t will get the Atrix and Verizon will have the Droid Bionic. They will feature large screens and front facing cameras so you can video call. The Atrix will feature a 5 megapixel rear camera and the Droid Bionic an 8 megapixel camera. The biggest feature about these phones will be that they are 4G. The next one to look out for will be the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt. This is also a 4G phone. It will have a front facing camera and an 8 megapixel rear camera. The only bummer about this phone is the lack of a dual core like the Motorola ones. All these new Droids will also feature HD recording. These new Droids will more than hold their own and the future of smartphones is looking bright indeed.
