Motorola Xoom

The Motorola Xoom is officially here. You can purchase one on a 2 year contract at Verizon for $599.99 or straight purchase price of $799.99. An only wifi version will be out soon enough which hopefully means a day or two after the release. This is one bad ass of a device. It sports a 10.1 inch screen, 1GHz dual core processor, and 32GB's of internal storage. The front facing camera is 2MP's and the rear is 5MP's with dual LED flash. The Honeycomb OS is installed on the device. Now unfortunately there is no Flash player yet, but Adobe will soon be releasing its Flash player 10.2 in the coming weeks and the Xoom will be receiving it, possibly 2 weeks from now. Also this tablet is LTE 4g ready, but it too will have to wait, as the Xoom will get the update at the end of May. Now here is one of my favorite parts of this device is the fact that it features a video editor in Movie Studio. We Android lovers have been waiting for this for a while. I just wish the Android phones would get this app. You can do more than just clip videos. One feature of the Xoom is the 720 HD video recording which is nice and will be awesome to use now that a video editor is part of the package. The tablet also has a micro USB and HDMI port. All in all this is a beast of a machine. It's easy to say the tablet wars have begun and it's just another tough choice with the other tablets out there. As of right now this is number 1 in my book. This is just one of the many reasons to love the Android OS and makes me proud to see the expanding of Android to more than just phones. Gadgety goodness all the way.
