Droid app of the week
This week's Droid app of the week is Song Buddy. An amazing app for those who want to download MP3's. All you do is search for the music by lyric, artist, or title and then download it. It even lets you watch music videos and you can post music to Facebook. This is just one of the best music dowloaders to date and its on Android OS.
More game news
If you don't already know, Rovio has released Angry Birds Seasons for free on Android. This Christmas themed game is a countdown to Christmas and can only play one level per day until Christmas. Also included in the game is the Halloween Angry Birds game you might have missed during Halloween. You can play all the Halloween levels. Pretty awesome for people addicted to this game who need their Angry Bird fix.
Android news
For today only Gameloft is making available for free to Android users of 2.x Android OS and at least a 1ghz processor Dungeon Hunter HD. One of the best RPG games on Android to date. After playing it for an hour I got to say this game rocked. The only thing is this game is a battery killer but if you have your charger handy then you'll have no problem playing this game. Remember it's free today only. CLICK HERE FOR THE LINK.

Droid App of the Week
This week's Droid app of the week is TV.COM app by CBS.This app lets you access videos on your Android through WIFI or 3G. With this app you can get clips of your favorite shows from CBS, the CW, CNET, ET, Showtime, CBS News, CBS Sports and much more. There are even full episodes of some shows albeit older ones. Not all shows from these networks offer full episodes but the ones that are, are cool. For example classic Star Trek episodes are available here. Pretty cool huh! For Dexter fans there are clips to access to catch up on episodes. For me personally this app is awesome because Smallville clips are on it. So if you like any shows on said networks this app is for you.
Happy Thanksgiving
To all my fellow Droiders out there and fellow techies, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your day and eat as much turkey as you can!

Droid App of the Week
This week's Droid app of the week is Google Earth app for Android. Like its desktop predecessor you can do lots of stuff with this app. You can view the same 3D images like the desktop one. With the touch of a button you can fly to your current location. Multi-touch is also an option, meaning you can pan, zoom, and tilt as you travel the world. You can search for places with this through Google search as well as voice search. Then there are layers in which you can view layers of geographical info including roads, borders, Panoramio pics, and more. The only downside is it's only available on Android phones that have Android OS 2.1 and up.

Droid app of the week
This week's Droid app of the week is Lookout mobile security. This is a must have app. It offers you 3 types of services. First is a backup storage of your files in case something unexpectedly bad happens to your phones and causes you to lose your files. This is great. In my case because of many files it took a while to back everything up but well worth it. Second is an antivirus protection in case you were to ever get your Droid infected with some kind of virus or spyware. Third is a find my phone option which means you can locate your phone with GPS if it ever gets lost. Also with this option, say you misplaced your Droid phone in your house you can get it to ring an alarm even if your phone is in silent mode. All in all this is a great triple threat app and I highly recommend its softwarety goodness and best of all its free!

Droid app of the week
This week's Droid app of the week is Rock player. The one thing about Android phones is only certain files can be played on it. Well with Rock player we can now play almost all the popular video files there are. It supports AVI, MKV, MP4, FLV, 3GP, MOV, ASF, DivX, Xvid, WMV, and H.264. This app frees up Android's limitations and can now play these files. Now you won't have to waste time converting files to the appropriate ones on the stock Android device and just play it thanks to Rock player.

Droid app of the week
This week's Droid app of the week is a fun app for all my fellow Star Wars geeks. It's the lightsaber duel app. This is a fun app so you can use a Droid to have lightsaber duels with sound effects. You can even include background music while you duel. All you need to do is turn your lightsaber on and start swinging your phone around to start dueling. You can choose from a selection of Star Wars characters lightsabers. The only problem is it's not in the Android market anymore, so you can still get it by searching on Google to look for the app and download it. The good thing about this app is it's also available for other phones such as the Iphone and Blackberry. So your dueling isn't limited to others with just Droid phones. Remember patience when looking for it on your search engine. May the force be with you.

Youtube
Today we will talk about one of my favorite sights, Youtube. It is an extraordinary site for people who like to watch videos. You can upload all types of videos such as family reunions so all relatives can see. They also air reality type shows, comedy skits, and even movies. My 2 favorite shows to watch are the Internet Killed Television CTFxC show made by Charles Trippy and his fiance Alli Speed. Along for the ride with them are their 2 dogs Marley and Zoe. The other one I watch is the Shaytards. This is a family headed by Shay Carl with his wife, Katilette, and kids sontard, princesstard, babytard, and newest addition roctard. Don't let the tard moniker fool you as it stands for unitard. You see Shay Carl was known for doing dancing skits in his unitard hence the tard moniker. These are genuine funny people and real people. Also its awesome when they get together with other Youtubers and have one big vlog time. So if you haven't yet seen them watch their videos and subscribe to them. I'm in the process of starting a droid Incredible cell phone channel now that I can record in 720p with my Droid Incredible. I'm going through testing with my channel youtube.com/ckcuev. So if you get the chance subscribe and thumbs up!

Droid app of the week
This week's droid app of the week is Goole Sky map. Such an awesome app for people who like the constellations. If you have a telescope you now have a way of knowing what you are looking at. You can even identify planets. There is a search bar under menu on the app if you are looking for something specific. This is a pretty neat app for those who love the constellations and look through their telescopes. Remember to point your Droid to the sky.

droid app of the week
This weeks Droid app of the week is Major League Baseball's At Bat app. For all diehard baseball fans this is for you. It is pricey for an app at $14.99 but well worth the investment. You get live game updates of your favorite team as well as video of what happens during the game. Also you can listen to the radio broadcasts of your team and even choose which broadcast you want to hear, be it the away or home team. Also you can get MLB news and latest going ons about whatever team you root for. A very good app now you'll never miss a game. Go Red Sox.
writeoncon
Hi everyone last night was the end of the writer's conference WriteOnCon. It was an amazing experience. For all the newbie writers such as myself I can't thank the ladies enough for what they have done to keep us more informed and give us the knowledge we need when writing books. Thank You!!! I learned a lot from them and the guests invited that spoke of the process of book writing. Truly a spectacular forum for us who need help. So to Lisa and Laura, Elana, Jamie, and the others who made WriteOnCon a success, I extend my true appreciation for what you amazing ladies have done. Also special thanks goes out to my wife who is my rock and a great mother and author who inspired me to get into this.

droid app of the week
This weeks droid app of the week is Act 1 video player. Clearly the best video player on the market. The player that comes with droid phones can't touch this. There is a free version and paid version which I recommend. There are many features with this app that the droid stock video player can't do. Here is a list of what this can do:Playlists (with random play)
Thumbnails (only on devices with Android 2.0 or newer)
Video zoom options (aspect, full, none)
SRT subtitle support
Bookmarks (up to 20 for each video)
Home screen shortcuts to videos and playlists
Play in the background while you run other apps or turn off the screen
Video sharing
On-screen clock, timer, and battery meter
Seeking by seekbar, screen gestures, trackball, and D-pad
Screen brightness and button brightness controls (buttons on Froyo only)
Resume points remembered for all your videos
Video sorting and grouping options
Delete/rename videos
Lots of shortcuts, conveniences, and configurations
Definately well worth it. Until next time.

here is what we got for the wife
Well after shopping we chose the Samsung Q430. This piece of gadgety goodness of a notebook was the a great choice. It sports 4gb DDR3 RAM, 500gb hard drive, intel core i5 processor with turbo boost, built in webcam and a host of other features. This machine is exactly what she needed to multitask. Hopefully this will last as long as her last laptop. Check it out at Best Buy or Best Buy online. You know when the wife is happy I'm happy.

Droid app of the week
This week's Droid app of the week is Old Timer Radio. This was recommended by my brother to check out and once I did I loved it. This app is all about the old radio shows before people had TV's in their homes. Families would gather around the radios and listen to these old serials. Well this app has many of those old classics. I can listen to all my favorite oldies in a pinch. So if you folks are into the old radio shows give it a try.
pats training camp
Its that time of year when the New England Patriots begin the start of their training camp. A wonderful time because the Red Sox are playing and football is getting close to beginning. My family and I went to the first training camp yesterday and its an experience. The Pats really go out of their way to make it such a family and fun environment no matter how old you are. Its fun for all ages. They have a kids park they set up called the Patriots Experience with all kinds of bouncy rides and crafts. Kids can take their photo with some of the Pats cheerleaders and have their faces painted. There is even lots of free goodies you can get. The whole complex that is Patriots Place is an attraction from fine dining to shops, there is something for everyone. Let's not forget the Bass Pro Shop which is an attraction itself. That place is unbelievable. Out behind the Bass Pro Shop is a 1 1/2 mile hiking trail that has beautiful scenery and cranberry boggs. What a sight. So if you ever get to New England or live in New England head to Patriot Place and check it out. Remember to root for the Patriots. Go Pats!

Droid app of the week
This week's Droid app of the week is the Slingbox app. Just like the article from below, you can remotely watch what you want wherever you want from your Droid. This is pricey for an app at 29.99, but well worth it. With Slingbox whatever channels you pay for via your satellite receiver or cable box you will be able to watch and change channels, or even record your shows with a DVR. How sweet it is. You can even stream your shows in HD! Definately a must have for everyone who is always on the go and doesn't have time to catch your shows or sports games at home.
slingbox
Well folks have you ever had to be somewhere but at the same time you knew you'd miss your favorite show. Well today you won't ever have to miss your favorite show again. There is a product I highly recommend called the Slingbox. There are a couple of versions. One is the Slingbox Solo and the other is the Slingbox Pro-HD. They connect to a cable box, satellite receiver, DVR, video/ security camera, DVD player recorder, Apple TV, and Windows Media Center. Yes you see right, you can connect a video camera and watch from anywhere you are, so if are on vacation you can check to see if your house is ok. But its more than just that. If you have a laptop, mac, netbook, or mobile device with an internet connection you can watch your shows. For my fellow sport fans that have to be at their mother-in-laws and have no access to your sports game can use this and not miss the game. lol! The Pro-HD version can do everything the Solo can plus connect up to 3 home theater devices, stream your HD content, and built-in TV tuner. This is gadgety goodness at its best! To be able to use this you will need a Windows or Mac based PC, high speed internet connection, and home network router. Retail prices for the Slingbox Solo are 149.99 and for the Pro-HD version is 299.99. The only other kicker is a one time fee of 29.99 to get the program to run on your preferred portable device. From the Android, Iphone4, blackberry, Windows mobile, Symbian, or Palm OS all are supported so everyone can watch. Definately something I will invest in once my rural community gets hooked up with high speed internet.

Droid app of the week
In staying on the same subject as my previous post, this weeks Droid app of the week is the Kindle for Droid. It came out recently and has been amazing. With this app there is no need to buy a Kindle, but if you own one you can sync your Droid and Kindle with Amazon Whispersync. It syncs your last page read between the devices. There are over 620,000 books you can download and thousands of free ones. You can adjust text size, color mode, and brightness. Its pretty much like the Kindle but a smaller screen. You can get your books through the app also. You just need an account with Amazon. I love this app as I've wanted my own Kindle but didn't feel like spending the money on one. Give it a look and you won't be disappointed.
Audiobooks and E-books
As my wife's book writing heats up, I'd like to talk about books with a tech twist. You see today, thanks to technology, books are now more accessible more than ever. There are a couple of different ways to get this without having to go to the library or bookstore and buying one. Thanks to the internet we can download them. People can purchase them for their e-readers or download them in audiobook format. Either way you get to the new age of reading or listening to books. I personally like listening to audiobooks and because of my hectic schedule I don't have time to read as much, so I can listen when I'm out on the road with either my MP3 or Droid Incredible phone through my car stereo. Now as I am a tech geek this is my preferred way of doing my reading. I also when I can get a chance, download e-books to read if I have time. But to a lot of other people, like my wife, love to just have a book in hand and read. I'm not knocking this because on occasion I like to go old school and read a book. Sometimes just sitting there with a crackling fire flipping through pages is relaxing. You can have your choice of E-readers like the Kindle, B&N E-reader Nook, Ipad, and the list goes on. E-readers are also for the most part environmentally friendly. Saving trees in the process. People can even read newspapers through E-readers. Audiobooks are perfect for people on the go. Some people who workout have a choice to listen to an audiobook instead of music. When I go walking on the track this is what I do. So there are endless ways to stay connected to the literary world. Whether your choice is a book, e-book, or audiobook all will bring you the joy and satisfaction of the genre of book you love without missing a step in today's fast paced world.

Droid app of the week
A little late on the Droid app of the week, but here goes. This week's app of choice is Astro file manager. Probably the best app on the Android market today. This app is a must have for every Droid phone out there. Astro file manger is the first app you must download. It does so many different things such as: read zip and tgz files, send attachments, task killer, SD card usage, search text and files, image and file viewers, and SFTP, SMB, Bluetooth networking. This has made my Droid experience easier and smoother. Droid phones don't have a central location to see files so, this app takes care of that. Now you don't have to go pulling your hair out searching for a file all over the phone itself. So for those new to the Droid scene this is a must have.

Incredible News
To all my fellow Droid Incredible owners, rejoice. Yes we know 2.2 Froyo update will be out late July or early August, but there is an OTA we will be receiving soon. No date as to when it will happen. You see this update will add 2 features to our phone. They are as follows, the first will be a mobile hotspot feature. Yes we will be a walking hotspot but will have to pay more monthly to use it. We will be able to use up to 5 wifi devices but at a 2gb max, unless you want to cough up an overage charge. The next part of the update is something we've been wanting, with all these other super smartphones coming out with this feature we needed it. It is..... 720p HD recording. We will be able to record in 720p HD folks and this is awesome. The phone should have come with 720p HD recording in the first place but I will take this. Nice!

Twilight Eclipse
Well here we are again, with the next chapter of the Twilight saga, Eclipse. When I was growing up, movies about vampires and werewolves fascinated me. To see this morph into today's contemporary stories intrigued me. I like how they've updated the stories, but I also still love the classic versions of this genre. This week I am proud to say I will be taking my wife and kids to see this as we are all twigeeks in my household. No doubt my kids will have their Twilight gear on. I feel its going to be crazy so we'll get a jumpstart to get there early to get a good spot to see this movie. Now I've taken a poll at home to see which side my family has chosen and the majority was team Jacob. Too bad team Edward. I also jumped to the team Jacob bandwagon. I think cause the werewolf thing is done cooler than the vampire stuff. So to all you twigeeks out there rejoice cause the wait is just about over.

droid app of the week
Hi everyone. Every week I will post a "droid app of the week" article. Let me start off with one of my favorite droid apps: radio time. This is an amazing app that lets me stay connected to my stations and shows I listen to no matter where I go. Before I would be bummed out cause I'd miss my local favorite shows and music stations when I go back and forth between states when I travel to and from work. Now with this app I no longer have to miss anything. Now not all stations are on this app, but most are. At least all my favorite radio stations. This is truly a great app and I recommend this one. It even has radio stations from other parts of the world. Talk about international! So if you have a droid this is a must have app.

This just in: Motorola Droid X is coming July 15th
Hi all. Just found out new exciting droid news. The motorola droid x is coming july 15th. This is the sister phone to the motorola droid (which by the way the droid 2 is going to come out at some point later this year). It will come with 2.1 eclair but the 2.2 froyo update should be out by late summer. Get ready for this folks, the droid x will come with a 16gb micro sd card in the box. It also has a a 4.3 inch touchscreen. The screen resolution is 854 x 480. Also other features include an 8 megapixel camera with led flash and video camera that records in 720p, 8 gb onboard storage, and a 1ghz omap processor. Also with a 3G mobile hotspot plan you will be a walking hotspot able to wifi connect up to 5 devices. The hotspot plan caps out at 2gb so keep an eye on your downloads.
iphone 4 review
Here is the iphone 4 review of specs and features. Let's start on the design. First of all this is one elegant phone. The curved back is gone from its predecessor and is streamlined. A beautiful design with a high end look. Its made of smooth strengthened glass and a stainless steel band that wraps all the way around it. It has circular volume buttons and notches in the steel band which is used to improve radio connections. It also has a mute switch and a micro sim slot. The top of device is where the power button can be found as well as a headphone jack. On the bottom is a speaker, mic and 30 pin dock connector port. On the back is a 5 megapixel camera with led flash. the front has a front facing camera so you can video call. Nice! Now on the inside you have the Apple custom A4 chip that is also used to power the ipad. The phone has 512 mb onboard memory. You can buy it in either a 16gb or 32 gb storage capacity. Now lets talk about the camera. You get to snap some nice 5 megapixel images, but the program running the camera is just basic so you'll have to wait for an app to give you more picture taking options. The front has a vga camera for video calls. At this time it is only supported only from iphone to iphone and only on a wifi connection, but at some point that could change. It records video in 720p at 30 fps.
The display on the front is Apples new 960 x 640 ips "retina display". The screen is 3.5 inches so its pretty much like other smartphones out there. This display is awesome and delivers clear crisp virtually non pixelated images. The ios4 operating system is much improved and will blow you away with its features, such as multitasking apps and programs. Also now you can have folders added to your programs. The one complaint that I've heard about the older iphones was the battery life. Well no more. This battery is bigger and better so you will get more life out of the phone. This phone does have it shortcomings, but all in all for you Apple geeks, I say 2 thumbs up. If you are an iphone loyalist you will be salivating for this awesome phone. Good luck to those who can get one because its will be hard to get. Until the next post........
